June is for Shakespeare! The Revelers

Shakespeare goes modern with the Revelers theatre troupe. In this daring theater camp for grades 7-12, students will stage an abridged Twelfth Night that speaks to today’s teens.
Through bold improv and team building games, we’ll unpack Shakespeare’s complex language and themes around identity, conformity, and love. Students will rehearse edgy interactive scenes as characters like isolated Olivia, lovestruck Orsino, and clever Viola disguised as a boy.
With self-created concepts, costumes, makeup and modern music mashups, campers will recreate the Bard’s world their way. Students will also discuss how to make Shakespeare feel relevant by drawing parallels between his work and contemporary social issues.
The week culminates in a fresh reimagined performance outdoors for family and friends at the Memorial Park stage at Columbian Park. Join the revelers this summer for a truly modern Shakespeare experience you won’t soon forget!
