Julie holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from DePauw University, with an eclectic background of performance and public speaking experience. She has been teaching children in a formal setting for almost 20 years. From teaching in a 2nd grade classroom to kickstarting a year-round youth theatre program in her hometown of Frankfort, she has acquired a unique base of knowledge and skills in teaching theatre to all ages. Throughout her combined 13 years of youth theatre experience, she has developed a “Drama-in-Literacy” curriculum that she takes into K-6 classrooms, using theatre exercises and concepts to reinforce literacy skills. Her theatre background includes a collegiate state-wide touring drama troupe, professional summer stock theatre, 20 years of directing experience, and multitude of civic theatre performances in both Washington State and Indiana.
