Teen Troupe is a free program offered to teens in the Greater Lafayette area. The purpose is to build and develop a performance group that extends our Civic reach out into the community. The group is, for the most part, student-led to determine interests and goals. Improvisational theatre is usually the core of our time spent together, but there are opportunities to expand our repertoire and experiences! Playwriting for Teens

Teens will be guided through the process of writing a 10-minute script of an original play, with the end goal of submitting their final piece into the 3rd Annual TEeN-Minute Play Festival held in March. Class meets once a month for 4 months, leading up to the submission deadline in January.

Saturday Fun for 3-6 Year Olds: The Five Senses

"The Five Senses" Participants will explore how an actor uses all five senses to develop a character. From the look of stage lights, sound effects, the taste of food used in a scene, the feel of a costume, and how olfactory senses can stir up a memory, students will get a hands-on experience in developing a character using each sense on stage. Students will learn about stage directions, communicating with face, body, and voice, and insight into developing a character.

Spring Break Camp: Musical Theatre Experience

Students ages 9-13 will audition and prepare for a 30-minute performance of “Seussical the Musical, KIDS.” Students will be actively involved in designing set, props, and costumes, and will spend the week learning about what goes into preparing a musical theatre production with singing, choreography, scene work, and character development.

Final performance on Friday, March 30th beginning at 5:15 p.m.

Teen Nights are held the weekend after the closing of a MainStage or Civic Youth production. The objective of Teen Night is to provide a space for local teens from all area schools to gather and build their theatre community.
